Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination

In 2010, the village enacted an illicit discharge ordinance which prohibits the dumping of anything that is not composed entirely of storm water into the storm sewer, catch basins, ditches or creeks.

Dumping paint, oil, grass clippings or other materials into the catch basins or directly into the waterway as well as having your washing machine, industrial equipment or other discharging of non storm water materials into the storm sewer rather than the sanitary sewer are examples of illicit discharge.

Any illegal dumping or discharging into the storm sewer system may be reported to the Village offices at 419-865-7104 during normal business hours or the 24 hotline operated by Lucas County Engineers Office at 419-255-STOP (7867).
